It is another round of fireworks at the Miami Open as fourth seed Cori Gauff and 13th seed Karolina Muchova face off. This semi-final clash will be the second meeting between the two this season and sixth overall. Read on for our prediction of the match.

Despite the two players’ huge profiles, this will be their first appearance in the semis here. In Muchova’s previous four appearances, she had never gone past the third round. She will be fired up for this after seeing off Victoria Mboko in straight sets in the quarters.

Having lost all previous five meetings with Gauff, she will be keen on stopping that poor run. With an 18-3 record, Muchova is currently 11th in the live rank.

Gauff has spent close to two hours more than Muchova on the court in Miami. Fatigue will not be the only factor working against her; she has been shaky for the better part of this season.

The American has dropped a set in each of her four matches in Miami and in 12 of her 20 matches this year. While she has the head-to-head advantage, Muchova, who has already won a title this year, inspires more confidence ahead of this meeting.

Gauff lost the second set as she overcame Belinda Bencic in the last round. Before this season she had never gone past the fourth round in Miami. The 12-time tour champion sits fourth in the live rankings.
