Facing the threat of elimination, Connacht will host Bristol Rugby at The Sportsground in a Champions Cup clash slated for Friday. Connacht are rooted to the bottom of Group 1 while Bristol are sitting risky on fourth with five points. The visitors occupy the final playoff slot while the hosts will need a miracle to progress to the Round of 16. Connacht have had a season to forget in the Champions Cup having suffered losses in all their three games. The defeats have come against Bordeaux Begles, Lyon and Saracens with a bonus point coming against the latter. Connacht have posted a mixed season in the United Rugby Championship where they sit in ninth just outside the playoffs. Their season thus far has yielded five wins and four defeats leaving them with 24 points.

Bristol need a victory to confirm their Round of 16 ticket with Saracens chasing hot on their heels in the group. Since their opening win over Lyon, Bristol have suffered back-to-back losses to Bordeaux Begles and the Vodacom Bulls. The visitors have also had a challenging start to their Premiership Rugby season where they sit eighth with six losses and five wins. Heading into the clash, Bristol will need to work on their attack that has scored the second least amount of points in their group. Their 70 points is only worse to their next opponents’ 61 points registered in the competition this season. The English side will hope to extend their recent impressive away record that has seen them win their last two games.
