After successful sojourns in the League Cup, Chelsea and Brighton will be calling back their full-strength squads for Premier League action. The two sides clash in the next round of fixtures in the topflight, a match to be hosted by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Both of these sides dropped points the past weekend, and we have a prediction below as they both seek to bounce back.
Hosts Chelsea had a disastrous start at Old Trafford and eventually suffered their first loss of the season. That saw them drop to sixth in the league standings. Meanwhile, Brighton had a capitulation of their own too as they faced off with Tottenham.
They played to a draw, which left them 14th, still searching for their second win of the season. Billed as top six contenders, the Seagulls aren’t doing much to live up to it. Avoiding a fourth straight defeat at Chelsea might restore that rating, though.

Chelsea - Brighton: Form Analysis
Chelsea have had a tough run in their recent matches. In the past week they suffered defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League and to Manchester United in the league.
Those two losses in which the Blues conceded five times left questions as to whether the Club World Cup winners can really compete with the top teams. Similar asks were laid down as they went into the break of their League Cup match against Lincoln City trailing 1-0.
They did recover, though, and won 2-1. The one strength Chelsea will want to hold onto is their scoring form. Even when losing, Chelsea got on the scorer sheet.
Chelsea failed to score in only one of their competitive matches this season.
Brighton haven't had things easy either, but they have a huge win to build on. They are coming from a 6-0 win over Barnsley in the League Cup, a positive outcome after two winless outings in the league.
The Seagulls were left disappointed after losing a 2-0 lead against Tottenham Hotspur last time out only to draw 2-2.
It was particularly disheartening as Brighton, playing at home, dropped points courtesy of Paul van Hecke’s late own goal in a game they had dominated.

Chelsea & Brighton Squad Analysis
Chelsea’s poor afternoon at Old Trafford didn’t just end there. It claimed one of their best players in Cole Palmer. The England international limped off the pitch injured after just 21 minutes.
He will have no chance to add to his one league goal. The good news for the Blues is that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is back after serving a suspension in the midweek League Cup match.
Apart from those two, Joao Pedro catches the eye going into this game. The Brazilian, signed from Brighton, has two goals and three assists to his name, and with Palmer missing, Pedro will surely steal the show.
Brighton will miss Adam Webster, Jack Hinshelwood, and Solomon March, all of whom are injured.
Paul van Hecke will hope for a calmer game after his own goal in the last league outing. He will need that control, as he faces Joao Pedro, his former teammate eager to leave a mark.
Brighton will have a fresh attacking threat of their own should the manager choose to reward Diego Gomez and Tom Watson after their impressive showing in midweek.
While Gomez scored four in the 6-0 rout of Barnsley, Watson weighed in with three assists.
