The Free State Cheetahs and the Sharks will face off in week seven of the 2024 Currie Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Free State Stadium. The hosts are in third place in the league standings, while the visitors are fifth. Check out our match prediction below. 

The Free State Cheetahs have been solid again this season and are well on their way to defending their Currie Cup crown, currently on 23 points after the first six weeks.

They have won four, drawn one and lost one of their six matches to date, and have also picked up five bonus points, all by way of tries scored. 

Last week, the Cheetahs made the trip to the West Coast and came away with a 26-19 victory over Province, extending their unbeaten run to three matches, following a draw with the Bulls and a win over the Griffons.  

This is the first meeting between these sides this season.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have some work to do if they are to make it to the knockout rounds, as they enter this round of fixtures in fifth place, though they are just a point behind the Pumas in fourth. 

The Durbanites have a record of two wins, three losses and one draw, but they have earned seven bonus points, five of which were for tries scored and two for losing by fewer than seven points. 

The Sharks beat Griquas 40-21 last weekend and are also unbeaten in their last three matches, with two wins and a draw.
