Carlos Alcaraz and Andrey Rublev bid to get off the mark in their ATP Tour Finals round-robin group. Both players were beaten in their opening matches at the weekend by Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev respectively. Here's our match prediction.
Carlos Alcaraz looked out of sorts on Sunday when being beaten in straight sets by Ruud on the indoor hard courts of Turin. That's been the case a few times in the past few months with early exits in the US Open and Paris Masters. However, he also won the Shanghai Masters last month beating Jannik Sinner in the final. If he can recover that kind of form on Wednesday, then he can defeat Rublev.
That'll mean not making 34 unforced errors as he did against Ruud. This is the third match between these two players and they are level at 1-1. Rublev's win came on clay and Alcaraz beat the Russian at this stage of this tournament last year.
Andrey Rublev was beaten in straight sets by Alexander Zverev in his first match. He's won two titles this year (a couple less than Alcaraz) with one success on hard courts in January. He hasn't made it past the last eight of a tournament since August. We tip Alcaraz to win this match.
