Carlos Alcaraz opens his ATP Finals campaign with a match against Alex de Minaur. This is in the Jimmy Connors round-robin group which also contains Lorenzo Musetti (after the withdrawal of Novak Djokovic) and Taylor Fritz. Here's our match prediction.
Alcaraz returns to this indoor hard court tournament in Turin, Italy hoping for a better run than last year. The Spaniard was knocked out in the round-robin stage after being a semi-finalist in 2023.
He is currently second in the world rankings but could yet end the year in top spot. Alcaraz lost in his opening match in his last tournament but had reached the final in each of his nine previous tournaments.
Alex de Minaur is playing in this tournament for only the second time. Last year he lost all three of his round-robin group matches. To get a first win, the Australian must defeat Carlos Alcaraz, something he's failed to do in their four previous meetings, including two in 2025.
De Minaur is seventh in the rankings and also filled that place in the ATP Race. He's won one title this year but made it to at least the quarter-finals of a tournament on 12 occasions this year, most recently in Paris.
