The race for the Eastbourne final will on Friday see ninth seed Daria Kasatkina face unseeded Camila Giorgi. The winner of this second semifinal of the day will play either Cori Gauff or Madison Keys in the final. Camila Giorgi had luck on her side in the previous round when former Eastbourne champion Jelena Ostapenko retired after the first set. Giorgi had taken the opening set 7-6. This means that the Italian is yet to drop a set at Devonshire Park. Having also defeated world number six Ons Jabeur earlier, Giorgi will fancy her chances now of winning the competition. She has already won one semifinal, on her way to winning the Merida Open. Giorgi has won 17 of the 29 matches she has played in 2023 with four of those wins coming on grass. She has boosted her world ranking immensely by advancing to this round. The four-time tour champion is up a massive 21 places to number 46 in the live ranking.

Daria Kasatkina is on the verge of getting back into the WTA top 10. She is currently ranked 11th and can move up one place in the live ranking if she manages another win on Friday. Kasatkina has defeated Giorgi both times they have met with the last encounter taking place last season at the French Open. The Russian has also won one semifinal, in Adelaide but she wasn’t as fortunate as Giorgi to win in the final. She will hope for better tidings here. Kasatkina is also yet to drop a set in Eastbourne. To book this round, Kasatkina got the better of second seed Caroline Garcia who was also forced to retire in the second set. The ninth seed won the first set 6-2 and was ahead 2-1 in the second when Garcia pulled out. This was her third win in four outings on grass and her 18th victory of the season.
