Week eight of the 2024 Currie Cup will kick off at Loftus Versfeld where the Blue Bulls will be taking on Griquas on Friday evening. The Bulls currently lead the standings, while Griquas are seventh. Here’s our match prediction.

The Blue Bulls have been simply sensational this season and head into round eight of the competition as the only unbeaten team with a record of six wins and a draw, now on 31 points. 

Last week, the Pretoria-based side made the trip to Mpumalanga to face the Pumas and secured an impressive 40-24 victory, picking up a bonus point in the process, taking them to five in total so far. 

The Bulls now return to Loftus where they have been flawless this season with three wins in three games and are the clear favourites at the books to keep their unbeaten record intact. 

Meanwhile, it has been another difficult Currie Cup season for the Griquas, who enter week eight second-bottom and looking unlikely to challenge for a knockout spot, currently eight points off the top four. 

However, they will come into this match in good spirits after thumping minnows the Griffons 59-7 last week, picking up their fifth bonus point to date, and keeping them just one point behind Western Province. 

Still, they face a massive step-up in class of opponents here, who beat them home and away last season.
