Bristol are second in the English Premiership after the first week of matches. They can go top if beating eighth-placed Gloucester at home on Friday. Here's our match prediction of the opening game of weekday 2.
The home side got the new season off to a winning start with a 24-3 win at Newcastle Falcons. They actually trailed by a couple of points at half-time but then scored 19 points without reply in the second half.
Bristol finished fifth in the English Premiership last season, missing out on the play-offs by just a couple of points. Five of their nine home league games last season were won with the other four ending in defeat.
They ended the season well though with three of their last four home league fixtures being won. Last season saw them beat Gloucester 51-26 at home and won away against them in March of this year.
That made it three successive league defeats for Gloucester against Bristol. Gloucester lost by ten points at home to Saracens in their opening fixture of the new season. They trailed by nine points at the break in that match.
Gloucester finished ninth in the English Premiership last season, missing out on European competition. Seven of their nine away league games were lost, including four of the last five. We tip Bristol to win this and be ahead at half and full time.
