In the first post-Christmas Premiership Rugby clash, Bristol Rugby welcome Exeter Chiefs to the Ashton Gate Stadium on Friday. Bristol are pushing for another season in the Champions Cup as they sit seventh while Exeter are in the playoffs slot. Bristol look to have turned a corner after a poor start to the season, winning three of the last four games. This run saw them head into Christmas with a 21-13 win over struggling Newcastle Falcons. The game came before their mixed outing in the Champions Cup where they lost and won against Bordeaux and Lyon respectively. Bristol will be hoping Harry Thacker will be inspired form after landing five tries this season, just one shy of the top try scorer.

Exeter are in inspired form after three straight victories with Leicester Tigers being their latest victims in the 29-10 victory. Back-to-back Champions Cup wins over Munster and Toulon have also injected some confidence into Exeter. The two-time Premiership Rugby champions have only suffered three losses this season which have all come on the road. Their attack, however, is the most potent in the league having secured 268 points. A good balance in both offense and defense has also seen Exeter concede the least amount of points in the league, at 175. A huge chunk of their points have come from fly-half Henry Slade who has the most points in the Premiership. His good work off the boot is added to the fact that he has also landed four tries this season.
