Brest had an anticlimax to end their 2025 activities but hope to start strong as they host Auxerre in a Ligue 1 assignment. Going into this Sunday match, Brest are 11th, five spots above Auxerre. Let’s have a look at the match prediction.

Both these sides suffered elimination from the French Cup at the first time of asking. Brest fell on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Avranches, which came on the heels of a 3-2 loss to Rennes in Ligue 1.

They have had time to reboot in the winter break, and the hosts will hope to bounce back. Before falling to Rennes, Brest were on a three-game winning run.

Auxerre, on their part, faced a much tougher opponent in the French Cup – Monaco – and lost. They were thumped 2-1 at home, the defeat coming after another loss, 4-3, when hosting Lille.

The only positive Auxerre were able to take from this run was their scoring form. They have scored eight times in the last four matches and will hope to carry this into the new year.

Their latest defeat, though, meant they couldn’t rise off the bottom three. As things stand, they are three points adrift of safety, having collected 12 points from their 16 league games.
