Brandon Nakashima is seeded fifth for the grass court Hall of Fame Open in Newport, USA. The American faces unseeded Emilio Nava for a place in round two. The scheduled opponents in the next round are either Jakub Mensik or a qualifier.
Nakashima reached the third round at Wimbledon beating 18th seed Sebastian Baez. He eventually lost to the 16th seed Ugo Humbert in four sets. His form on grass courts has been good this year with two semi-finals reached, one on the ATP Tour.
He's up to 53rd in the live rankings and 11 places higher in the ATP Race. Back in 2022, Nakashima reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and remains a player who is not easy at all to beat on this surface.
Emilio Nava is 147th in the live list but was as high as 124th in April of this year. The American played in four grass court events in England this year. Of his six matches he only won two and was beaten in the second qualifying round at Wimbledon by Maxime Janvier.
