For the second successive week, Andrey Rublev takes on Brandon Nakashima. The winner goes into the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters. Read on to discover our match prediction.
These two players met in the Rogers Cup in Montreal last week. That was played on a hard court as is this match. Rublev is the sixth seed in this tournament and will hope for a repeat of their Montreal match. The Russian won that in straight sets and only lost four games.
That was his second win in three matches against Nakashima. His other win was also on this surface with only three games lost. Rublev went onto lose in the final of that tournament and has again been doing well in Cincinnati.
His one match this week has seen him beat Zhizhen Zhang in straight sets. A win here will take Rublev into his third successive quarter-final. He’s now sixth in the Live ATP Race, the same position as his overall world ranking.
Brandon Nakashima is up to 48th in the live rankings and 39th in the ATP Race. The wild card beat 11th seed Taylor Fritz in the first round of this tournament. He followed that up with a 7-5 7-6 victory over unseeded Arthur Fils.
