We have an all-American final in the BOSS Open in Stuttgart. Top seed Ben Shelton faces the second seeded and defending champion Taylor Fritz in this grass court tournament. Shelton has struggled to reach this final and our prediction is that Fritz will retain his title.
Ben Shelton has already won a clay court tournament in Germany this year. Now the world number five is playing in his first ATP final on this surface after reaching the last four here in 2025. Shelton has not had an easy time this week in Stuttgart and is yet to win a first set.
The 23-year-old has had to come from behind to defeat Marcos Giron, Sho Shimabukuro and Jiri Lehecka. The latter saw all three sets decided by a tie-break and betting on sets being determined that way in this final could be profitable.
Shelton leads 2-1 in previous meetings but this is the first on grass.
Taylor Fritz won this title last year and has also had some difficult matches this week. It took him three sets to get past both Martin Landaluce and Mattia Bellucci. It was easier in Saturday's semi-final as he beat Alexander Bublik in straight sets.
This is the sixth grass court final that Fritz has reached and he is yet to lose one.
