Belgium and Iceland meet in their opening match of Group D in the Women’s Euro Championships. The Belgium team will be making just their second appearance at the Euros after their debut in the 2017 edition. They will be looking to do better than the last tournament when they were eliminated in the group stage. To their credit they were in a group of death that featured the eventual two finalists. Belgium will bring excellent form into this competition as they have only lost two of their last 11 matches. During the qualifying tournament for the Euro's they topped their group by the narrow margin of two points. They only lost one of the eight matches in the qualifiers. Belgium have played Iceland on three previous occasions with both sides winning one match to go with one draw.

Iceland have been in superb form in the run up to this competition as they have won nine of their last ten matches. Their only loss during this period was to a very strong USA side in the SheBelieves Cup. Iceland know that they will need an upset win in their first match to give them an outside chance of qualifying from the group. They also came through their qualifying group with just a single loss but they finished second in their group to Italy. Iceland qualified for the showpiece event by finishing as one of the best second placed teams in the groups.
