Only three PREM Rugby clubs have made it to the last eight of the European Rugby Champions Cup. Two of them (the best couple of sides in the table) play each other on Friday evening as Bath Rugby host Northampton Saints. Read our match prediction below.
Bath failed to make it into the knockout stages of this tournament last season. They had a miserable pool stage and found themselves transferred to the Challenge Cup, which they went on to win. It's gone much smoother this season and they will be aiming to reach the semi-finals and a mouthwatering clash with either cup holders Bordeaux Begles or Top 14 leaders Stade Toulousin.
To get there though, they need to get past Northampton Saints who are top of PREM Rugby but only a point above Bath. The Saints were losing finalists in this competition last season and finished second in their pool behind Bordeaux. They will want to repeat the away win they had over Bath last December.

Bath Rugby - Northampton Saints: Form Analysis
Bath have their second consecutive European Rugby Champions Cup game against a fellow PREM Rugby club. Last week saw them beat Saracens at home 31-22. That was a bit of a struggle as they went into the break 10-0 down.
The win made it three in a row for Bath after wins over Saracens and Sale Sharks in PREM Rugby with 92 points being scored. The win over Saracens last weekend made it three ins out of three at home in this season's European Rugby Champions Cup with 134 points scored.
Bath will be out for revenge on Friday.
Last December saw Northampton Saints come to Bath and win 41-21. They were level at half-time but won the second half 27-7. Last season they were runners-up in this competition and their only loss this term in the pool stage was to Bordeaux who beat them in the final.
They also had a tough match in the last 16. Northampton beat Castres Olympique 49-41 after trailing by a point at half-time. They have also won their last three games but the combined winning margin has been only 13 points, including beating Newcastle by just a point at home.

Bath Rugby & Northampton Saints Squad Analysis
The top two clubs in PREM Rugby could meet three times before the end of this season. Later this month, Bath travel to Northampton in PREM Rugby and could well meet in the end-of-season play-offs, perhaps even the Grand Final.
Before that, they face each other in the last eight of the European Rugby Champions Cup. Bath will want to avenge the home loss they suffered against the Saints earlier in the season. They will be withouut prop Will Stuart for this cup tie.
That's their only main injury concern though. Their coach says his players had "a few bumps and bruises" after last weekend.
Injury problems for the Saints.
Northampton Saints were without several players when they won in December. It wiill be the same story again this time around but the Saints are confident that George Hendry, Fin Smith and Alex Mitchell will be fit for Friday.
Missing though will be James Ramm and Alex Coles who were both injured last weekend. Saints will find this tough and it was close for a fair share of the game in their earlier meeting.. A similar affair is likely on Friday evening.
Bath Rugby - Northampton Saints Key Points
- Northampton won at Bath last December.
- Northampton have won nine of their last ten matches.
- Bath won in the last 16 but would have been beaten with this handicap level in place, the same applies to their previous game against Sale.

Our Bath Rugby vs Northampton Saints Prediction
To reach the semi-finals, Bath must beat the only club that are above them in PREM Rugby. They lost to Northampton Saints at home last December and struggled to get past Saracens last weekend.
Northampton Saints are aiming to go one better than last season when they lost in the final to Bordeaux who have also beaten them this season. At level scores it'd be risky to back them but our main Bath Rugby v Northampton Saints prediction is Northampton Saints wins on a +11.5 handicap.
