Australia will take on Zimbabwe in Match 19 of the T20 World Cup on Friday morning at the R. Premadasa Stadium. The Baggy Greens are bottom of Group B, while the Chevrons lead the standings. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Australia entered the T20 World Cup off the back of a handful of injury setbacks, most notably to Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, though the latter is expected to join the team later in the tournament.
The Baggy Greens got off to a shaky start in their opening match, losing early wickets, while producing a display that was in keeping with their mixed performances leading up to the tournament.
Australia have lost five of their last six T20I matches, including a 3-0 series whitewash against Pakistan a few weeks ago. However, they have won their last two against their upcoming opponent.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe got their World Cup campaign off to a positive start, posting an impressive eight-wicket victory over Oman, who they bowled out for just 103 in 19.5 overs.
The Chevrons chased down the target in 13.3 overs, with Brian Bennett anchoring the innings with a knock of 48 off 36 balls. Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans all took three wickets apiece.
However, that was only Zimbabwe’s third win in their last 10 games, with the other two victories coming against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

Our Australia vs Zimbabwe Prediction
Australia is the number two-ranked team globally and one of the favourites to win the title this year, but they are missing key players and showed vulnerabilities in their opening match of the tournament against Oman.
Zimbabwe’s first match saw them produce a dominant display, but it was against an Associate nation in Oman, so this will likely provide a clearer understanding of what we can expect from the Chevrons in this tournament. With the batting strength these sides possess, we expect at least one player to reach a half-century. Our Australia vs Zimbabwe prediction is any player to score 50.
