The group stage at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup ends with Australia taking on Oman at the Pallekele Stadium on Friday. The Baggy Greens and Oman are fourth and fifth in the Group B standings, respectively. Let’s get into the match prediction.
In what has been a T20 World Cup full of surprises, the undisputed biggest shock is that Australia will not feature in the knockout stages after their elimination was confirmed on Tuesday.
With injuries and selection hampering their campaign, the Baggy Greens have only won one of their three matches in the tournament, while suffering losses to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
The Aussies’ T20I record has now dipped to just three wins and seven losses in their last 10 matches. However, they did beat this opponent in their only previous encounter by 39 runs in the 2024 edition of this tournament.
Meanwhile, Oman have known their fate for almost a week, following their 96-run loss to Ireland. They were beaten by Zimbabwe (8 wickets) and Sri Lanka (105 runs) in their first two games.
Aamir Khaleem has been the team’s highest run scorer in the competition with 61 runs in three innings, while Shakeel Ahmed and Sufyan Mehmood have taken three wickets apiece.
Oman have won six of their last 10 T20Is, but none of those victories were against full member nations.

Our Australia vs Oman Prediction
Australia have failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the T20I World Cup for the first time in 17 years, and we are likely to see them ring the changes here to afford some of their fringe players time in the centre.
With this being a dead-rubber match, it will be tough for both teams to get fired up for the clash. However, with a few new faces expected to feature here, those players will be looking to make their mark, and we feel at least one of them will reach the half-century mark. Our Australia vs Oman prediction is any player to score 50.
