Australia and Italy will have a chance to snap their funk as they collide in Round 3 of the Nations Championship at HBF Park on Saturday. The last three meetings between the Wallabies and Gli Azzurri have been low-scoring contests, with both teams also involved in several matches that have finished with low scorelines recently. This is why we are supporting under 60.5 total points in our prediction.
Australia came close to snapping their lengthy losing streak in the Nations Championship opening round against Ireland before Sam Prendergast’s late conversion condemned them to a narrow two-point defeat. They also fell 42–26 to France in their second fixture last week, extending their wait for a first Test win since October 2025.
The Wallabies have now suffered six losses on the bounce and are second from bottom in the Nations Championship Southern Conference standings with just three points. Twelve of their last 16 Tests have finished with fewer than 61 total points, including six of their last eight home Tests.
Italy are also enduring a rough stretch heading into this clash. They have suffered back-to-back losses in the Nations Championship, including a 47–17 defeat to New Zealand last week. The Blues have been involved in mostly low-scoring contests, with 10 of their last 11 matches producing no more than 53 total points, including five of their last six away matches.

Our Australia vs Italy Prediction
We are anticipating an intriguing clash as the two teams look to put an end to their enduring losing streaks and improve their Nations Championship fortunes. However, recent trends suggest a defensive slugfest is on the cards.
While both sides have struggled in attack, they have remained relatively solid defensively, with that combination leading to a string of low-scoring contests in their recent matches. The last three meetings between them have ended with low scorelines. Our Australia vs Italy prediction: Under 60.5 points.
