Australia will look for revenge, while India will be gunning for an upset to remain alive in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup when the teams meet at Lord’s on Sunday. This Group A game between the first-placed ‘Southern Stars’ and the second-placed ‘Women in Blue’ could prove tighter than ever, but can India upset the calculations?
With eight points (W4), Australia have been the ‘team to beat’ in this competition. Interestingly, they are yet to confirm a top-two finish, with India’s six points (W3, L1) keeping them within touching distance of qualifying in the top two positions.
Australia are desperate to win the World Cup back, and their unbeaten start is a testimony to their credentials. Almost all the teams were swatted aside easily, which was largely led by Ellyse Perry with the bat (127 runs) and Sophie Molineux (six wickets) with the ball, while only four players have scored individual 50s.
India defeated Bangladesh by five wickets to remain alive in the competition, but their loss to South Africa could hurt them. The ‘Women in Blue’ didn’t boss Bangladesh, but the context could push them to do well. Smrithi Mandhana (167 runs) and Shree Charani (12 wickets) have been their brightest spots with the bat and ball, respectively, in this tournament for the ‘Women in Blue.’

Our Australia vs India Prediction
The equation is simple for India. They need to defeat Australia to remain in contention for a knockout berth. Australia are literally qualified for the knockouts as the group leader, but a heavy win here could upset their calculations. Injuries to key players Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield could be a challenge, one that India would like to explore.
India have defeated Australia 2-1 in February, so there’s enough history for them to win again. Our Australia vs India prediction is India wins.
