Top seed Aryna Sabalenka faces third-seeded Coco Gauff in the last four of the WTA Finals. The winner will take on either Qinwen Zheng or Barbora Krejcikova in the final. Here's our match prediction.
Sabalenka is confirmed to be the world number one at the end of the year. So far in this outdoor hard court tournament, the Belarusian has beaten Qinwen Zheng and Jasmine Paolini but then lost to Elena Rybakina who’d already been eliminated.
The world number one has won three of her last four tournaments. Her run of success included a three-set win over Gauff in Wuhan last month. That made it 4-4 in previous meetings, though one of Gauff’s wins was achieved on clay. Sabalenka has won two of the last three matches.
Coco Gauff won her first two matches in these WTA Finals. Wins came against Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek. Then on Thursday, the 20-year-old lost in straight sets to Barbora Krejcikova. That meant a second place finish in the group and this semi-final against Sabalenka.
Gauff recently won the China Open and has won 11 of her last 13 matches. After beating Swiatek in the group stages she will be confident of faring well against the world number one on Friday. We go for over 20.5 games to be played in this match.
