In the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters, Lorenzo Musetti faces Arthur Fils. Both players are unseeded for this outdoor clay court tournament. There's a possibly tough task ahead for the winner of this match. Their scheduled opponents in round three are either Roman Safiullin or the top seed Novak Djokovic. Musetti had an excellent win in the first round of this Masters 1000 tournament. He beat the 13th seed Taylor Fritz winning both sets 6-4. The Italian is 25th in the live rankings and 53rd in the ATP Race. Musetti had lost his last two matches before beating Fritz, though one was against Carlos Alcaraz. He's hoping for another good run in Monte Carlo after getting to the last eight in 2023. This is his first match against Fils.

Arthur Fils had lost three of his last four matches before beating lucky loser Yannick Hanfmann in round one. He only lost two games in that match, all in the second set. He's now 36th in the live list and ten places lower in the ATP Race. This year has seen him get to the last eight of the Santiago clay court tournament but only the second round in Estoril last week losing in three sets to Cristian Garin. 2023 saw him win the Lyon clay court tournament and this is his first time in the Monte Carlo Masters. He'll give Musetti a good match but our money is on his opponent to get the win.
