Arthur Fils vs Dušan Lajović Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Barcelona

Unseeded Dusan Lajovic faces the 16th-seeded Arthur Fils in the last eight of the Barcelona Open. A match against either fifth-seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or unseeded Facundo Diaz Acosta in the semi-final awaits the winner. Lajovic was ranked 59th at the start of this tournament but is down to 74th in the live rankings. That's because he's about to lose the ranking points earned when winning the Banja Luka clay court tournament played last April. His run to the quarter-finals of this ATP 500 tournament is very much needed. He’d lost his last three matches before this tournament. His first match on the European clay court tour ended in defeat to Alexandre Muller in the first qualifying round of the Monte Carlo Masters. He has had success on clay this year in South America with the quarter-finals reached in both the tournaments played. So far in Barcelona, he’s beaten two seeds. Sixth-seeded Ugo Humbert was beaten in straight sets in round two. He then defeated 11th-seeded Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina in the last sixteen.

Arthur Fils is 1-1 in previous meetings with Lajovic with both matches having been played on this surface. Fils won in Hamburg in 2023 but earlier this year was beaten in straight sets by Lajovic in Buenos Aires. Fils is at 36th in the latest ranking list. His run to this quarter-final has taken him to 32nd and that would be good enough to earn him a seeding at his home Grand Slam at Roland Garros. Fils played three tournaments on the South American tour but lost three of his four matches. He won two and lost a couple in the Estoril and Monte Carlo clay court tournaments. This week has seen him beat unseeded Daniel Altmaier in three sets and then knock out the fourth-seeded Alex de Minaur. Lajovic is our tip to win this match.
