Anna Blinkova is unseeded in her return to Prague and will face third seed Sara Bejlek in the first round. This marks their third career meeting. Home advantage and having won 11 times on hard courts have Bejlek as the favorite in our prediction.

Blinkova lost in the first round in her only previous appearance in Prague. Going by her form this season, she's at risk of early elimination again.

The Russian has struggled this season and so far has lost more matches than she has won. She has compiled a 16-22 record, coming into this week having lost back-to-back fixtures.

Her inconsistencies have seen her drop out of the WTA top 100. Blinkova was defeated in the first round in Athens last time out.

Bejlek made it to the quarter-finals last year in Prague. She will have that as a reference as she seeks another strong performance on home soil.

The Czech star is also having an inconsistent year. She has compiled a 14-12 record and has seen her form dip in recent weeks. Bejlek had a career-high performance earlier this year in Abu Dhabi as she won her maiden tour crown.

It was an unprecedented run as she fought her way from the qualifying rounds. She hasn’t enjoyed such heights since then.

Bejlek, who defeated Blinkova in their first-ever meeting, is ranked 41st in the live ranking.
