Andrey Rublev has had another good week and looks to be on the way to his first Monte Carlo Masters final. He takes on Casper Ruud in the semi-final after knocking out Rafael Nadal in Friday's quarter final. The world number eight won the first set against the Spaniard and looked on his way to a straight sets win. Nadal fought back from 3-1 down to win the second set but it was Rublev who kept his nerve in the final set to win the match. After winning the ATP Cup with Russia in early February, Rublev has gone deep in every singles tournament he's played. His worst performance is losing to Daniil Medvedev in the quarter finals of the Australian Open. He's reached at least the semi-final in his next five tournaments. One title so far with a win in Rotterdam and is a strong contender to win this event. He has won two other ATP Tour tournaments on clay, beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. He has won his previous three matches against Casper Ruud, two of them on clay.

Casper Ruud began the year with a world ranking of 36. He's on his way up to 24th but will go even higher if winning this match. He had reached two quarter finals this year, before finally gettin into a last four. Ruud has had some good results on this surface in the past, with three ATP Tou finals. He won the Argentinian Open last year and is the only Norwegian to reach the semi-final of a Masters event. Three seeds have been knocked out by Ruud in this tournament. Diego Schwartzmann, Pablo Carreno Busta and defending champion Fabio Fognini have all been beaten by him. This is his toughest task to date and it's Rublev who can confirm his superiority and win this in straight sets.
