Another win for Zheng in this fixture will set up a quarter-final draw with Magda Linette or Mirra Andreeva. Anisimova will be eager not to lose again in this fixture in the space of a month. She fell to Zheng back in August at the US Open.

The world number seven overcame a first-set loss to Anisimova on her way to the quarter-finals at the US Open. Zheng, a Gold Medalist at the Paris Olympics, won the title in Palermo and also finished as runner-up at the Australian Open.
