Unseeded Fabian Marozsan attempts to continue his impressive run in the 2024 Miami Open. He has a tough task in the last eight though as the Hungarian faces fourth seed Alexander Zverev. For the winner, there's a semi-final against either top seed Carlos Alcaraz or 11th seeded Grigor Dimitrov. Marozsan hadn't even played in this Masters 1000 tournament before but had made an amazing debut. Ranked 57th at the start of this outdoor hard court event, he's up to a career high 38th and can move up to 30th if beating Zverev. Before this week he hadn't  reached an ATP Tour quarter final this year. There were signs of good form though wnen reaching the last 16 at Indian Wells. In Miami, he's already beaten two seeded players. Sixth seed Holger Rune was beaten in the second round for the loss of two games. In the last round he beat the ninth seed Alex de Minaur in three sets, losing the middle one.

Alexander Zverev was the runner up in this tournament five years ago. This is his first quarter final in Miami since 2022. He's ranked fifth in the world but fourth in the Live ATP Race. His year began well as he was part of the German team that won the United Cup, winning four of his five singles matches. A win here will take him into his third singles semi-final of the year. He got to that stage at both the Australian Ope and in Los Cabos. The German has reached this stage without dropping a set with wins over Felix Auger-Aliassime, 31st seed Christopher Eubanks and in the last round, 15th seeded Karen Khachanov.
