Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Vienna
by Devesh Jaganath | in Tennis Predictions
World number nine Alexander Zverev will take on Andrey Rublev, who is ranked four places above him, in the quarter-final of the ATP Vienna Open on Friday. The winner of this match will move on to face either Frances Tiafoe or Jannik Sinner in the next round. These two have met on seven previous occasions, and the German leads the head-to-head standings 5-2. Zverev won the Chengdu Open and reached the semi-final in Beijing last month. However, he has had a slight dip in performance in October. The German was knocked out in the first round in both Shanghai and Tokyo ahead of this tournament. Still, it has been a very good season for him to this point, with two ATP titles under his belt, one on the hard and one on the clay. His record now reads as 51-24 for the year and 22-13 on the hard surface. Notably, while Zverev has won five of his seven matches against this opponent, he has lost the last two encounters. Nevertheless, the bookmakers make the German the marginal favourite in this one.
While Zverev failed to shine at the Shanghai Masters, Rublev was much better. He reached the final of that competition, overcoming the likes of Tommy Paul and Grigor Dimitrov. Hubert Hurkacz beat him in the final, though, after a tiebreak in the third set. The Russian has reached five ATP finals this year and won one. That win came at the Bastad Open back in July, where he beat this opponent in the second round en route to the title. Rublev is now 52-21 for the year and 23-12 on his favoured hard surface. Here in Vienna, he has already been Alexei Popyrin and Matteo Arnaldi in the previous rounds. Rublev has not dropped a set in this tournament. He has won the last two meetings against this opponent, but can he go three for three?

Our Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev Prediction
Despite coming into this match as the underdog, Rublev will be fairly confident in his chances of progressing. He is carrying solid form from the Shanghai Masters last week and has gotten the better of this opponent in their last two encounters. An outright win for the Russian may be a little risky for accumulators, but we feel he will claim at least a set in the match. Our Alexander Zverev vs Andrey Rublev prediction: Andrey Rublev to win a set.
