Sixth seeded Alexander Shevchenko faces unseeded Matteo Berrettini on Monday. This is a first round match in the outdoor clay court Grand Prix Hassan II tournament in Marrakech. For the winner, there's a second round match against either Luis van Assche or Jaume Munar, both of whom are unseeded. Shevchenko is currently 56th in the live rankings, 11 places below the career high he achieved in February of this year. He has reached two hard court quarter finals this year but failed to win two matches in a row in his last four tournaments. This is his first clay court tournament of the year and he has had some success on this surface. He reached the third round in both Madrid and Rome last year and also a Challenger Tour final. He's played Berrettini once before, beating him in a hard court Challenger Tour event last year in three sets.

Matteo Berrettini continues his comeback after injury problems. The Italian is 135th in the live rankings and will want to get some matches under his belt and stay fit and healthy. This is only his third tournament of the year. He didn't play at all until March when getting to the final of a hard court Challenger Tour event. The Italian then played at Indian Wells and lost in round one to Andy Murray. That was a three-setter and Berrettini felt unwell and dizzy in the latter stages of the match. Berrettini has a good record on clay having reached a French Open quarter final and the final of the Madrid Open. We go for over 22.5 games to be played in this match.
