Alex de Minaur continues his attempt to win back-to-back outdoor hard court tournaments. The ninth seed faces fourth-seeded Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open. Here's our match prediction.

Ben Shelton is seventh in the live rankings, just one place above his opponent. Those placings will be reversed if Shelton fails to win this match. The American has had to battle hard to reach the last 16 in Toronto.

The last two rounds have seen the 22-year-old need three sets to progress. Firstly, Brandon Nakashima took him all the way and then Flavio Cobolli in round four.

The winner of this match will be up against either sixth seed Andrey Rublev or second-seeded Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals.

Alex de Minaur is on a winning run after his victory in Washington last month. The Australian is playing in his fifth hard court quarter-final of 2025. As well as the Washington success, he also made it to the final in Rotterdam.

He's only had to go on court twice in this tournament and in his latest match, beat Frances Tiafoe in three sets. De Minaur reached the final of this tounament when it was last played in Toronto two years ago.
