Ajax will target a return to winning ways when they host rock-bottom side Almere in the Dutch Eredivisie this weekend. This match at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam on Sunday will see the hosts start third in the standings with 33 points, while the visitors are bottom with just six points.

De Joden faltered a bit recently with three defeats and one draw from their last five matches in all competitions. They start this round in third spot, albeit just two behind second-placed Utrecht. The hosts are coming off a 3-1 defeat to Lazio at this venue in the Europa League, making it back-to-back defeats in all competitions.

Ajax has excelled at home in the league though, winning six and drawing once this season. The lone exception was the 2-2 draw against Utrecht in their last league game played here. That is bad news for Almere, who is eight points behind safety coming into this round and has struggled at both ends of the pitch.

The visitors have a league-low seven goals to their name, while only Waalwijk conceded more than their tally of 34 goals. Worryingly for Almere, it is their away form that is a huge concern.

The Black Sheep have won just two points from their seven away league games this season, including three consecutive defeats. Having failed to score in six of those seven away games, Almere has a lot to improve before they can move up the table.
