The ninth-place Los Angeles Lakers will look to continue their winning ways when they head to the nation’s capital to take on the 14th-placed Washington Wizards. The Lakers took care of business on their trip north of the border on Tuesday, walking away with a comfortable 128-111 away win over the Toronto Raptors. LA are on a 7-1 run over their last eight games which has lifted their record to 43-33 on the season. This has the Purple and Gold sitting ninth, putting them 1.5 games behind the eighth-place Kings and two games behind seventh-placed Phoenix. There’s still an outside chance that the Lakers steal a top-six seed away from the Pelicans or Mavericks, but they’ll have to be near-perfect in the run-in to even have a shot. Los Angeles has been rolling on the offensive end during this winning stretch, averaging 123.8 points per game in their last eight appearances.

The Wizards don’t have anything left to play for this season, aside from avoiding the embarrassment of finishing the year with the league’s worst record. Currently, the Wizards have a record of 15-61 which puts them 1.5 games above the bottom-place Pistons. Washington pulled off a shocking win on Tuesday evening when they beat the second-placed Bucks by a score of 117-113. What’s even more impressive, they were able to win as double-digit underdogs despite not having the services of leading scorer Kyle Kuzma. The 28-year-old is listed as day-to-day on the injury report but will surely be pushing hard for a return here against his former team. The win also snapped a run of three straight losses and means that Washington have now won four of their last seven games.
