Despite their struggles, Washington has reason for optimism as they come into this matchup riding a rare winning streak. The Wizards held on for a 107-105 away win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday, marking their third win in a row. Somewhat amazingly, this three-game winning run is the team’s longest of the 2023/24 season. It’s been the Wizards’ defense that has provided the spark over the last week, giving up just 105.3 points per game over the last three games which is miles better than their league-worst 123.4 seasonal average. They now sit two games above the 15th-place Pistons for the ignominious title of worst team in the league.

The Nets were able to put an end to a losing run in their last appearance after defeating the Raptors 96-88 in an ugly away win on Monday. The two teams combined for just 14 for 66 shooting from three-point range (19.7%) while getting up just 166 total shots. Either way, a win’s a win for Brooklyn as they finally put to an end a six-game losing streak. The victory moved the Nets to a 27-45 record on the season which puts them firmly in 11th place. While they are technically still alive for a spot in the postseason, they’ll have to overturn a 5.5 game deficit on the 10th-placed Hawks for the final play-in tournament spot. With just 12 wins from the 39 games played since the start of 2024, making up that kind of ground with just 10 games remaining is looking near impossible.
