Wales take on Australia knowing that a win will take them into the last eight of the 2023 Rugby World Cup. They lead Pool C by four points from Fiji with Australia in third, the same number of points behind them. Wales began this tournament with a hard-fought 32-26 win over Fiji and then followed that up with a 28-8 victory over Portugal. They made a large number of changes for that second match but coach Warren Gatland has announced he'll be fielding the line-up that won that opening game for this vital match on Sunday. The Welsh side were not in good form in the run-up to this Rugby World Cup. They have managed to turn the situation around though and look set for the quarter finals where they are likely to face either England or Argentina. Wales have won three of their last four matches against Australia but lost the most recent one played in Cardiff last November. There was only five points in it though and the last four meetings have only seen a winning aggregate of 13 points.

Australia have to win this match or face the possibility of being eliminated in the pool stages of the Rugby World Cup for the first time. They have only six points from their two games with Portugal to face in their final match. Fiji have matches against those Portugal and Georgia and may well win those two games. The Wallabies began this pool with a 35-15 win over Georgia but then suffered a surprise 22-15 loss to Fiji. Like their opponents, their form before this Rugby World Cup was poor to say the least. 11 of their 13 games had been lost and Australians aren't used to that kind of record. It's not going to be easy to turn the situation around and we go for a Wales victory.
