Everton will happily put aside their Premier League engagements to host the first of back-to-back meetings with Newcastle United in the two sides’ tight schedules. The first of their clashes is a fourth-round League Cup encounter at Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool.
Everton are looking to rise from recent winless outings, while Newcastle are eyeing a second straight win away to Everton. While the hosts are coming from a 2-0 loss at Arsenal, their visitors beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
There is an interesting twist to this encounter in that no away team has lost it in the last five meetings. The favor falls on Newcastle United this time. That may not be the only reason our prediction backs Newcastle United, but the Magpies have a bit more going for them here. It will be interesting to see how the two sides line up their arsenal, with another faceoff right ahead in the Premier League over the weekend.

Everton - Newcastle: Form Analysis
Everton have had a hard time in the Premier League and will gladly welcome this midweek disruption. Up until a week ago, the Toffees were unbeaten, earning praise for their solidity. That was until they met the big boys.
Their fall started with a 2-0 defeat at home against Chelsea, and their trip to Arsenal most recently ended with the same scoreline. Brought back to reality with a thud, David Moyes’ men are left winless in three matches. The veteran manager will hope for better tidings ahead of another tricky period where he has to juggle a lean squad to negotiate the first of a quickfire double-header.
The away team of the day hasn’t lost any of the last five meetings between these two sides.
Newcastle United will head to Liverpool with some confidence restored and pressure eased on manager Mattias Jaissle. The coach inherited a tough job, and the opening days have had a fair share of hardships.
The 2-0 win against Crystal Palace will let off a lot of steam, and they can play with level heads. The last time Newcastle made this trip, they ended up 4-1 winners. They will hope for the same, though this is a step up from their clash with Millwall in the previous round.

Everton & Newcastle Squad Analysis
Everton might still miss Jack Grealish’s services after the winger was ruled out last weekend against Arsenal due to illness. The Toffees will also miss Jarrad Branthwaite, who was locked out of the Arsenal game as per the Premier League’s concussion protocols.
These absences are a blow to David Moyes, who is already working with a lean squad. The Everton manager had two keepers on the bench against Arsenal last time out, but at least this time he can make changes without really compromising the squad. Former Arsenal duo Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Crisstian Norgaard are in contention for starts.
Yoane Wissa hasn’t scored for Newcastle since August.
Newcastle United have no players suspended for this match, but the manager is dealing with a number of injuries that could hamper preparations. Defender Tino Livramento suffered a knee injury early in September, and this game comes too soon for him, having missed four already.
Lewis Miley is also a doubt for this match, having been left out of the Crystal Palace game last weekend. He is struggling with a muscle strain but is not yet ruled out. The Magpies will still have strong options for this game, including Harvey Barnes and William Osula, both who scored last time out.

Our Everton vs Newcastle Prediction
Our prediction for Everton v Newcastle United is that Newcastle United wins. In the past five meetings between these teams, this fixture has ended in favor of the team featuring as the away side. That will not sound like really great news for Everton, who are desperate to bounce back after three winless outings.
One of those was a home loss in which they even failed to score. The Toffees will find it hard taking on this Newcastle side. The Magpies won 4-1 the last time they visited Everton, and with the hosts’ poor scoring return lately, Newcastle might progress.
Everton vs Newcastle Alternative Predictions
Under 2.5 goals
Unlike in these teams, last meeting, we expect this game to be low-scoring. The last two clashes between these sides yielded 10 goals. However, going by their recent results, this could be a tighter outing.
Everton failed to score in their last two matches and have managed 0.8 goals in the last five games. Meanwhile, the Magpies have scored on average 1.2 goals in five matches. We have a feeling this will end in under 2.5 goals.
