Ugo Humbert vs Lorenzo Sonego Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP French Open

Ugo Humbert begins his Roland Garros campaign with a first round match against Lorenzo Sonego. Humbert is the 16th seed for this clay court Grand Slam but will be hoping to improve his record in the tournament. The winner of this match will take on either Zhizhen Zhang or Aleksandar Vukic in the second round. Humbert is the world number 16 and a place higher in the Live ATP Race. The Frenchman has won two titles this year but both were won on hard courts. His record at Roland Garros is not an impressive one and his best performance has been getting to the second round last year. He has improved his game this year though and did get to the last eight at Monte Carlo. Humbert beat Sonego in straight sets in that tournament and only lost four games. He leads Sonego 3-2 in previous meetings, though Sonego is 2-1 up on clay and beat him here last year,

Sonego is 49th in the live rankings but was as high as 21st earlier this year. He's down at 59th in the ATP Live Race and his best run on clay this year has been a semi-final appearance in the recent Turin Challenger Tour event. He did get to the last eight in Marrakech but recent form on the ATP Tour has not been impressive. When he faced Humbert in Monte Carlo, he'd already lost in the qualifying rounds but was reinstated into round two as a lucky loser. Sonego has twice reached the fourth round of this tournament, most recently last year. He doesn't appear to be in that kind of form at present though and we tip Humbert to get the win.
