The Toronto Raptors play host to the Houston Rockets at the Scotiabank Arena for this Friday evening matchup in the NBA. Toronto comes into this contest with an 18-33 record which has them sitting 12th in the Eastern Conference. The Rockets also find themselves 12th in the Western Conference although they boast the better record of the two teams at 23-27. 

It’s been a difficult season for Toronto as they are in a clear rebuild mode after trading away two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam and three-and-D wing OG Anunoby. Since the turn of the new year, the Raptors have managed to string together back-to-back wins only once in 19 games played. During that time, they’ve posted a record of just 6-13. Toronto comes into this contest off the back of a victory after defeating the Hornets 123-117 on the road. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and gave the Raptors just their eighth road win of the campaign (8-20). They’ll now be gunning for a rare second straight win as they take this one back to Toronto where they have a 10-13 record.

The Rockets have been one of the NBA’s biggest Jeykll and Hyde teams this season regarding their home and away performances. With an 18-9 home record, one might assume that Houston would be challenging for one of the top six seeds in the West. However, the reality is that their 5-18 away record has bogged them down to the point that they find themselves four games below .500 and 1.5 games behind the Jazz for the final spot in the play-in tournament. The Rockets will attempt to snap out of a two-game losing streak in this matchup after a 132-129 away loss to the Pacers. It was Houston’s fourth defeat from their last six overall and their third road loss in a row.
