The NBA regular season returns following the All-Star weekend with two struggling teams facing off as the 12th-place Raptors host the 11th-placed Brooklyn Nets. The Raptors entered into the break on a three-game losing streak following a 127-125 loss to the Pacers eight days ago. The losing run has Toronto sitting on a 19-36 overall record, giving them the fourth-worst record in the East. A spot in the play-in tournament is looking increasingly more unlikely for Toronto who now trail the 10th-place Hawks by five games. While they were able to score 125 points in their most recent outing, it did come against the Pacers who are allowing the third most points in the NBA. Prior to that, Toronto was held to under 100 points in two straight games as they lost to the Cavs by 24 points and the Spurs by 23 points.
The Brooklyn Nets will still have hopes of piping the Hawks to 10th-place and claiming the final spot in the play-in tournament. They currently trail Atlanta by just 2.5 games with the Nets overall record of 21-33 putting them 12th in the conference standings. Similarly to their opponents today, Brooklyn was not able to enter All-Star weekend on a winning note. In fact, the Nets suffered their biggest loss of the season last Wednesday, being blown out 136-86 by the Boston Celtics for a 50-point margin of defeat. They’ll now look to respond as they seek to put an end to an ugly stretch of form which has them with just a single win over their last six games overall. The Nets are 8-16 on the road this season, although did manage to beat the 76ers in their last away game prior to the Celtics loss.

Our Toronto Raptors vs Brooklyn Nets Prediction
This total looks to be too high for the form that these two teams are in currently on the offensive side of the ball. They’ve each been held to sub-100 points in two of their last four appearances. Additionally, the Toronto defense is markedly better when playing at home, giving up 113.1 points per game compared to 122.2 on the road. We’d have this total a few points under the 230 mark, making this a clear under play. Our Toronto Raptors vs Brooklyn Nets prediction is for under 231.5 points.
