TNT Tropang Giga will look to get back to winning ways in their pursuit to qualify in top-seed bracket of the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup as they face a tricky encounter against another side in the same pursuit – Meralco Bolts. Tropang Giga have a 6-3 win-loss record and are second in the standings just behind Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Meralco are 4th in the standings with a 5-3 win-loss record and are yet to confirm their qualification to quarterfinals.

Tropang Giga are confirmed of their quarterfinal place, but would be eager to finish in the top-four that gives them a ‘twice-to-beat’ cushion. However, the 85-79 loss to Ginebra in the latest round didn’t help them one bit. Crucially, Tropang Giga fared poorly from the 3-point range connecting only five of their 41 attempts. That loss meant Tropang Giga have lost three of their last four matches after winning the first five in a row.

Meralco have given their playoff chances a big boost with their recent run of four wins in the last five matches. The most recent 85-78 win over Rain or Shine underlined their strength and form. After leading 48-44 at half-time, the Bolts blazed away with a 22-4 run at the start of the third quarter to take the game away from the Painters. That followed their trend of low-scoring matches as the Bolts defeated Blackwater 89-85 and lost to San Miguel 89-82 in their previous two matches.
