The 2026-27 UEFA Nations League gets underway this week. In League A, the Netherlands have a tough home game against old rivals Germany and an open and exciting match looks likely. Six of the last seven games between the Oranje and Germany have seen both teams score, so our prediction here is BTTS.
Like their opponents, the Netherlands made their way through the group stages of the World Cup, but then lost in the last 32 via a penalty shootout. The Dutch team have a good record in the Nations League and were runners-up in the inaugural tournament. They lost in the quarter-finals in the last Nations League so will want to improve on that.
Germany hasn't got such a good record in the Nations League. They finished fourth in the last tournament (24/25), but that was the first time they had made it out of their group. Also playing in this group are Serbia and Greece with the top two going into the quarter-finals.

Netherlands - Germany: Form Analysis
These two countries were drawn together in the last Nations League. Germany won 1-0 at home and drew 2-2 in the Netherlands. That 1-0 home win is the only match in the last seven played between the Netherlands and Germany that didnt see both teams get on the scoresheet.

Germany aren't in the best of form.
Germany suffered a similar fate in the World Cup, losing on penalties to Paraguay in the last 32. The DFB Eleven have gone two games without a win. Before the loss to Paraguay, they were beaten 2-1 by Ecuador in the group stages of the 2026 World Cup.

After the disappointing World Cup, the Netherlands have become the latest country to appoint an overseas coach. Xavi from Spain is now in charge after the departure of Ronald Koeman. He raised eyebrows when his first squad saw the omission of top scorer Memphis Depay.
Bobbey is in form.
They do have an in-form striker though. Brian Bobbey hit a hat-trick for Sunderland at the weekend and Xavi will hope he can transfer that Premier League form to international football. 16 appearances for his country have seen him score four times.
The Netherlands will be without Donyell Malen and Justin Kluivert who have both withdrawn from the squad named by Xavi.
Germany also have a new coach with former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in charge of an international team for the first time.
Barcelona's Andre ter Stegen is back in the squad after being injured. He's not expected to start the match with Alexander Nubel likely to be between the sticks. Braja Gruda has pulled out of their squad. Their in-form player is Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala. He's made three goal contributions in as many matches for the Bundesliga champions.
