Week four in the 2023 Rugby World Cup will conclude with South Africa taking on Tonga on Sunday evening. The Springboks are in second place in Pool B with 10 points, while Tonga are fourth and yet to get off the mark. South Africa suffered their first loss of the competition in their last match. They were beaten by the world number one Ireland 13-8 in a gripping contest. That loss also brought an end to a six-match winning streak for the Boks. The situation is a little complex for South Africa now, as they need to win this match with a bonus point. However, if Scotland beat Ireland next week, it will come down to points difference. With that in mind, the defending champions will have to be ruthless in this match and secure as many points as possible. These sides have met twice in the past, and South Africa have won both. 

Meanwhile, one has to feel for Tonga in this competition. They have improved significantly over the last few years, but they were drawn into what many consider the group of death. To make matters worse, they faced Ireland and Scotland in their opening two matches and were beaten fairly comprehensively. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get much easier for them as they now face the Springboks, who are in search of a big result. Tonga have lost four and won two of their last six matches in all competitions. They have also conceded a total of 104 points, including 15 tries in the World Cup. All indications suggest they could be in for a hefty defeat in this one.
