South Africa certainly didn't get their world cup off to a great start when losing to Japan in their opening game. They needed to make a positive reaction after that and have been highly impressive in their last two games. A 46-6 win over Samoa showed a return to form and then on Saturday they defeated Scotland 34-16 to take them to the top of the group. Their aggressive play and line-out dominance is back and they go into this final pool game against USA in far more confident mood than they were this time a fortnight ago. There's still an element of danger though because both Scotland and Japan have won two of their games so far. If South Africa were to lose this game and their two rivals both won then they would be the two qualifiers. Winning the pool is also important as the runners-up are likely to face Wales in the last eight and the winners possibly up against Wales. USA have lost to Samoa and Scotland and have put up two decent performances. They still have two games to play and a pair of wins could yet get them third place in the pool and automatic qualification for the next World Cup. South Africa if maintaining their form are hard to beat and should be able to take care of the Americans.
