Four teams are separated by a single point in this main round group. Egypt are top of the table and host fourth placed Slovenia, knowing a defeat will see them knocked out of the competition. They are top on six points with one game remaining, ahead of Sweden in second who have the same number of points. The Russian Handball Federation team (who take on Swedem in their final game) and Slovenia are both a point behind. Egypt finished second in their preliminary round group, beating Chile and North Macedonia before losing by a single goal to Sweden. This main round group has seen them continue their good form with wins over the Russian Handball Federation and Belarus, by a combined total of 14 goals. Everything is still on a tightrope though but winning this game will see them top the group. A draw may see them qualify depending on how the other group games go.

Slovenia will qualify if they can win this game. They finished second in Group H to qualify for this main round. Wins came against South Korea (scoring 51 goals) and Belarus but they lost to the Russians. They began this group with a straightforward victory over North Macedonia, before coming from behind to draw with Sweden. This should be a tight match, especially with so much at stake. Egypt have put in a series of strong displays and can get the win that sees them top the table.
