The final match of an action-packed Saturday in the 2023 Rugby World Cup will see Scotland taking on Romania. The Scots are currently in third place in Pool B, while the Owls are at the bottom of the group. After losing their opening match 18-3 to South Africa, Scotland bounced back with a 45-17 win over Tonga last week. Not only did they secure the win, but they also scored seven tries and earned a valuable bonus point in the process. The Scots will need another bonus-point victory here to keep their hopes of reaching the quarter-final alive for at least another week. However, even if they do manage that, they will still need to find a way to overcome the Irish in their last match of the competition. Assuming they also pull off that feat, point difference could still be a factor, with the Boks and Ireland bagging big wins against Romania already. All that said, Scotland can have no sympathy for their opponents here and will need to secure that bonus point. 

Meanwhile, Romania had been very good over the last 24 months, but they have failed to find their stride in this tournament. Their first two matches of the competition ended in an 82-8 loss to Ireland in game one before a 76-0 thumping by the Springboks in week two. Put that together, and Romania have conceded 158 points and 23 tries, which is the second-most in the competition behind Namibia. During that time, they have also battled to score, recording only eight points, including one try across their two matches. Based on their form so far, it is unsurprising to see Eugen Apjok's side showing up as massive outsiders for this match. In 13 previous matches against Scotland, Romania have only won twice and have never tasted victory in three World Cup meetings against this opponent. They are likely in for another big defeat here.
