Arguably the biggest match of week seven in the NFL sees the Kansas City Chiefs heading to the Levi’s Stadium to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Things haven’t gone exactly according to plan for the 49ers so far this season as the team has been ravaged by injuries on both sides of the ball. The team’s big bet on second-year quarterback Trey Lance was put on hold after the 22-year-old went down in week two with a fractured ankle. The Niners are 2-2 under the now backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and 3-3 overall on the year – good enough to put them top in a tight NFC West. On the other side, the Chiefs will look to bounce back after their massive game against the Bills last week. Kansas City suffered a 24-20 loss in that one but still sit atop the AFC West with a 4-2 record.

The 49ers have found it tough to string together consistent results so far this season, in large part due to their massive injury list. However, this is still an extremely talented side, one that many picked as the potential NFC representative in the Super Bowl, with one of the best coaching staffs in the league. They’ll continue to be a tough out for any team and the Chiefs are certainly going to be in for a battle here. With that being said, this KC offense might just be the best in the league, even in light of the huge numbers Josh Allen and his teammates are putting up in Buffalo. The Chiefs just edge out the Bills in terms of points per game (29.8 to 29.3) for the most in the league and the Niners could struggle to slow them down with their defensive injuries.

As we mentioned before, San Fran has been pummeled by the injury bug this season. Nick Bosa, Drake Jackson, Trent Williams, Jimmie Ward, Charvarius Ward, Arik Armstead and Samson Ebukam are a few of the players that were listed as limited or did not practice. With some big defensive names on that list as well as key offensive lineman Trent Williams, this is not the time Kyle Shanahan would have wanted to face the high-powered Chiefs offense. KC’s surprisingly good run defense could force the 49ers and Garoppolo to try to beat them through the air, which is ultimately not the team’s strong point.

- The Chiefs 50% third down conversion rate is the second best in the NFL, behind only the Buffalo Bills at 52.8%. The 49ers rank 15th at 40.5%.
- The Chiefs red zone conversion rate of 76% is also the second best mark in the league. Meaning more than three-fourths of KC’s trips inside the 20 end with a touchdown scored.
- San Francisco’s defense is certainly very good but they only rank 13th in opponent red zone conversion (53.85%), and ninth in opponent third down conversion (35.71%).
- The Chiefs defense often comes under criticism but they are currently ranked as the fourth best rushing defense in the league, allowing only 90.5 yards per game on the ground.

We’re going to back the Kansas City Chiefs to win this game and cover the -1.5 spread in the process. San Francisco is simply dealing with too many injuries to too many key players to back them to outscore this high-powered Chiefs offense. The loss to the Bills in what was the biggest game of the NFL season up to that point should set a fire under the KC team and we would expect them to bounce back with a strong performance here.
