Roma begin the weekend in seventh place in Serie A and a win in this match will take them up to third in the table. They are already ten points off the league leaders Juventus but are in top form after four league and cup wins in a row scoring 14 goals. They only won one of their first five league matches but have recovered well with three straight wins over Frosinone, Lazio and Empoli, though two of those teams are in the relegation zone at present. A win over Lazio who are fourth in the table showed what good form they are in. Home form is good too with no defeats in their last seven home league matches.

SPAL started the season well with wins over Bologna and Parma but then lost their unbeaten record losing 1-0 at Torino. They bounced back with a home win over Atalanta but their last four league matches have all ended in defeat and they are down to 14th in the table only four points above the relegation zone. Away form is poor with four defeats in the last five games and they lost 3-1 away at Roma last season and were beaten 3-0 by them at home. Another defeat looms here and the tip is to go for a home win for Roma leading at both half and full time.
