Spain take on Portugal in the final of the 2024-25 Nations League. The Spanish side won the last Nations League and are the current European champions. Can the Red One continue their dominance with another title win? Here's our match prediction.
This has been a good competition for Spain with the final reached in 2021 and then a title triumph two years ago. A year after that they won the Euros and here they are again chasing more glory. No one is going to forget their semi-final in a hurry. They were coasting against France at 4-1 but in the end won 5-4.
Portugal won the very first Nations League in 2019. The two subsequent tournaments saw them fail to get out of their group. That has changed this year and they then came from behind in their semi-final to defeat Germany 2-1. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner and he'll be looking for yet more glory this Sunday.

Portugal - Spain: Form Analysis
Spain are attempting to become the first country to retain the Nations League title. They won the Nations League two years ago and were in outstanding form in their qualifying group for this competition.
They finished eight points clear of Denmark, Serbia and Switzerland with five wins and a draw away to the Serbs. That took them into the quarter-finals that were held three months ago. The away first leg ended 2-2 but Spain needed a 93rd minute equalizer to avoid defeat.
Then the second leg went all the way to penalties after a 3-3 draw. Spain won the shootout 5-4 but they didn't need penalties to reproduce that scoreline in Thursday's semi-final. They led France 4-1 but ended up winning 5-4 after an amazing French comeback.
Spain will want to continue their impressive record against Portugal They are unbeaten in their last six games and in the last four competitive fixtures.
Back in the finals.
Portugal won the very first Nations League that was played in 2019. That came three years after their Euros success. In their 2024-25 group, Portugal ended six points ahead of Croatia, Scotland and Poland with four wins and two draws.
That took them into a quarter-final against Denmark. The away first leg was lost 1-0 but Portugal won the home second leg 5-2. That took them into the finals and they beat Germany 2-1 in their semi-final after going a goal down.

Portugal & Spain Squad Analysis
Despite conceding four goals against France, Spain may well name an unchanged starting eleven for this final against Portugal. They were strong in midfield with Pedri, Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi causing plenty of problems for their opponents.
Yamal in top form.
Spain will be looking for another star performance from Lamine Yamal. Fresh from winning La Liga with Barcelona, Yamal scored twice in Spain's 5-4 win over France on Thursday. He's certainly a player for the big occasion after also scoring in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.
It's unlikely that Portugal will make many changes for this final. Joao Neves usually plays in midfield for PSG but found himself playing as a right-back against Germany. One possible change is Vitinha coming into midfield to replace Ruben Neves.
There's no stopping Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo just keeps on going. Those who have called for him to end his international career just keep on being made foolish. He scored the winner for Portugal against Germany in the semi-final. That makes it seven goals in this Nations League, three more than any other player has managed.
