There’s turmoil in the Portland organization after the arrest of head coach Chauncey Billups due to an illegal gambling operation with the 49-year-old being placed on leave. In the meantime, Thiago Splitter will take over the team as interim coach.
Portland got off to a losing start in the 2025-26 season after falling 118-114 at home to the Timberwolves. The Blazers put up a good fight and even built up an eight-point lead with nine minutes remaining in the game. However, they were unable to withstand an Anthony Edwards fourth quarter barrage.
Golden State laid down a serious marker to start the year, beating two of the West’s top four seeded teams in the 2024-25 season. They opened the campaign with a 119-109 road win over the Lakers and followed that up with a 137-131 overtime home victory over the Nuggets last night.
They’ll have to deal with playing this one on the second half of a back-to-back. It will be interesting to see how the Warriors handle these types of spots this year considering they have the second-oldest roster in the league.
