The Minnesota Timberwolves will be away to the Phoenix Suns for the penultimate regular season matchup between the two. They come to the game as the number one ranked team in the Western Conference while the Suns are sixth. The Suns have strengthened their chances of securing an automatic playoff spot in recent outings. Frank Vogel’s men, who had struggled to climb out of the play-in places, have won six of their last eight games. They have defeated the Cavaliers and Pelicans in their last two matches and are now tied on the same record with the latter. Phoenix, who have compiled a 45-31 record, edge the Pels on head to head as they have won both matchups between the two. The Suns cannot afford to rest on their laurels and will seek to go unbeaten for the remainder of the campaign. Greyson Allen and Jusuf Nurkic are questionable for this game. Phoenix, who have won the last two meetings with Minnesota, have averaged 116.3 points over their last three matches.

The Timberwolves have again moved back to the summit of the West standings. It has been a back and forth for the number one seed with the top three teams all within a game of each other. To move back to top spot, Chris Finch’s men pummeled the out of sorts Raptors 133-85 at home. This was their second successive win and their ninth in the last 11 games. The Timberwolves have six more matches left to play in the regular season. Two of those are against the Suns. They lost the first matchup by more than 15 points, back in November, which was the last time they were in Phoenix. Minnesota will continue to be without Karl Anthony-Towns as well as Jaylen Clark. Towns has been a big miss for the visitors but he is expected to be back and ready for the playoffs. The Timberwolves, who have averaged 115.7 points over their last three games, have already qualified for the post-season.
