The Phoenix Suns will be out to get back to winning ways when they host the LA Clippers next in the NBA. Four games separate the two teams in the West standings with the Clippers in fourth having the advantage over the sixth-placed Suns. This is the first game of a scheduled back-to-back between the Sun and Clippers. The Suns suffered a setback last time out and will be out to avoid back-to-back defeats. Frank Vogel’s men were defeated at home by the Pelicans who are battling to secure a top-six finish. Their 32nd loss of the season snapped a three-game winning run and left them tied on the same record with the Pels. Phoenix have four more matches left to navigate and avoid dropping into the play-in places. Their schedule is one of the hardest as all four teams they are set to play are post-season bound. Jusuf Nurkic is questionable while Damion Lee remains out injured. The Suns have averaged 108.0 points over their last three games.
The Clippers have won the first two matchups with the Suns this season. A third win will see them secure this series for the season with a game to spare. LA are faring much better in the race for automatic playoff qualification than Phoenix. They currently have compiled a 50-28 record and are four games clear of the play-in places. A win here will confirm a top-six finish. Ty Lue’s men have been in impeccable form lately and come to this game having won six of their last seven games. They defeated the Cavaliers 120-118 at home last time out for their third successive victory. Kawhi Leonard missed the game and the forward has now missed the last four games. This is a troubling concern with the playoffs just around the corner. The 32-year-old will also be absent for this trip. Josh Primo is also out while Daniel Theis is questionable. The Clippers have averaged 117.7 points over their last three outings.
